STRUCTURE
Where We Started
AVEC International was founded in April 2013 by a group of committed social workers inspired by the core principles of social work—namely, the restoration of social functioning and the enhancement of quality of life and well-being for individuals, families, and communities in Uganda and globally.
An initial needs assessment was conducted in early 2013 across six Ugandan districts—Mityana, Wakiso, Kayunga, Gulu, Kamuli, and Kampala—to identify the key challenges faced by elderly persons and vulnerable children. The findings from this assessment laid the foundation for evidence-based decision-making, which remains a guiding principle of the organization’s work.
